This position is for a Factory Automation Engineer in GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ India center at Bangalore.

Job duties and responsibilities:

As a Factory Automation engineer, you’ll collaborate with other members of the Manufacturing Automation department to establish the infrastructure for operation efficiency enhancement and factory cycle time improvements. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for this role. Associate Factory Automation Engineer partner closely with the equipment and operations teams to keep the process running at optimal efficiency. This position may require a day or night shift work schedule, including weekends, to support the 24×7 manufacturing operation.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting operations related to work in progress (WIP) management decision support application infrastructure for GLOBALFOUNDRIES Fab.
  • Update/Create Engineering routes, lot logistics, creating new product, review route change requests.
  • Execute factory dispatch rules, scheduling systems, optimization models, and related applications to meet the tool ramp and production output goals
  • Design and develop optimization, heuristic, and rule-based dispatching, and scheduling algorithms to improve factory performance
  • Utilize simulation modeling software output to optimize WIP management strategies
  • Keep abreast of and implement innovations within the optimization, scheduling, dispatching, and modeling disciplines in our industry and in other relevant industries, and drive continuous improvement in the accuracy and productivity of this function within GLOBALFOUNDRIES
  • Build relationships with internal partners, such as Operations, Manufacturing Systems Technology, Supply Chain, and Finance, as appropriate

Qualifications and experience required:

  • B.E./B.Tech with 0-2 year or M.Sc. with 0-2 years of relevant experience in Electrical (Microelectronics)/ Electronics Engineering or Applied Physics.
  • Experience in high volume manufacturing preferably in semiconductors/ electronics industry in process module/ equipment (200mm/ 300mm) are strongly desired
  • A strong working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC),
  • Good understanding of semiconductor process technology and devices
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a globally matrixed team or environment
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Strong team player with the ability to work well within a global team
  • Organized with a high attention to detail and on-time delivery of work assigned
  • Good knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Flexible in workdays and timings with shifts ranging from early mornings, late evenings, nights and weekends depending upon the Fab requirements
  • Language Fluency – English (Written & Verbal)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Operational support in production environment
  • Experience with the application of industrial engineering practices, WIP Management, Production Control and with demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in Unix/Linux and Shell scripting
  • Experience with Semiconductor Manufacturing including MES
  • Data mining and simulation in a manufacturing environment
