Job description:
Thermo Fisher Scientific is hiring for the post of CAD Engineer.
Job duties and responsibilities:
- Collaborate with industrial designers to bridge the gap from concept to product by crafting CAD from sketches or translating surfacing models into SolidWorks.
- Balance multiple tasks and prioritize critical tasks and demonstrate knowledge in the use of basic computer knowledge.
- Solid Model Design: Develops SolidWorks proven models that achieve design requirements using the best design practices and industry design standards.
- Build and maintain detailed 2D and 3D models, adhering to ASME Y14 drawing standards and applying GD&T principles.
- Ensure manufacturing modules operate efficiently to meet timelines and schedules through performing required equipment preventive maintenance, calibration, cleaning, as required by SOP and through frequent review of material inventory.
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to understand product requirements and translate them into manufacturable designs.
- Analyze and optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, and performance.
- Chip in to the development and implementation of new design processes and standards.
- Participate in organizational change processes (ECO/ECR/ECN).
Qualifications and experience required:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- 0 – 5 years proven experience in product design and development using SolidWorks.
- Experience in 3D CAD design using SolidWorks, including the ability to build manufacturing drawings and documentation with practical knowledge of general drafting practices and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Experienced knowledge of Sheet metal and other manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of basic manufacturing processes like Casting, Welding, Forging and relevant standards like ASME, AWS, and DIN.
- Proven understanding of ASME Y14 drawing standards and GD&T principles.
- Ability to generate fabrication drawings independently.
- Proficient in Teamcenter or other PLM systems.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
