Job description:
Maxwell is seeking talented and motivated recent graduates to join their core Engineering departments (Firmware, Hardware, and Application and System Testing & Validation) as a Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET).
In this role, you will play a vital role in the development and implementation of our Battery Management Systems for Electric Vehicles applications. You will gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers across various disciplines, contributing to the continuous improvement of Maxwell’s cutting-edge BMS technology.
Job duties and responsibilities:
- Acquire a thorough understanding of Maxwell’s BMS solutions and the broader EV battery ecosystem
- Apply your theoretical knowledge of embedded systems, digital/analog electronics, and communication protocols to design, develop, and optimize BMS solutions
- Utilize your skills in communication protocols like CAN, J1939, SPI, and proficiency in Embedded C and JSON to implement robust BMS functionalities
- Develop strong communication and analytical skills to troubleshoot issues, conduct root cause analysis, and provide timely solutions for BMS challenges
- Stay updated on industry standards and regulations (ISO26262, UL standards, AIS) to ensure compliance and adherence to quality benchmarks
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of BMS design methodologies, processes, and best practices within the organization
- Maintain awareness of the latest trends and technologies in EV battery management
Application Engineering:
- Collaborate closely with customers throughout the integration process, ensuring successful BMS adoption in their EV applications
- Participate in requirement elicitation and technical discussions to understand customer needs and translate them into actionable design specifications
- Integrate Maxwell solutions/electronics components into customer systems(vehicle/energy storage systems) through thorough documentation, onboarding and customer visits
Hardware Engineering:
- Design and develop digital and analog electronics for BMS control boards using advanced tools like Altium, TRM, etc
- Own the entire lifecycle of control boards, from specification to design, prototype, and manufacturing
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (mechanical, thermal, manufacturing)
- Work on power electronics components to manage/dissipate heat, EMI/EMC
Firmware Engineering:
- Participate in the entire software development life cycle for BMS firmware
- Implement software requirements using Embedded C and test implementations effectively
- Gain experience in debugging field issues and actively support software releases
- Work on innovative architectures/solutions to make the firmware lighter, faster and easier to manage/migrate/debug
Test and Validation Engineering:
- Participate in the entire product development with extensive focus on product quality through test and validation at various phases of the project
- Use systematic approach to testing methodologies to ensure that the product is built with high quality, meeting customer functional requirements, industry standards and legal compliances
- Use state of art Hardware-in-loop system to increase the reliability in testing and decrease the testing times
Qualifications required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, or related field, 2024 pass out
- Proficiency in embedded system engineering, digital/analog electronics, and communication protocols (CAN, J1939, SPI)
- Strong programming skills in Embedded C and familiarity with JSON for data exchange, python for data parsing/analysis
- Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts effectively
- Preferably familiar with industry standards such as ISO26262, UL standards, and AIS
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated with a passion for innovation and a drive to deliver high-quality solutions that meet customer expectations
- Ability to engage in requirement elicitation, technical negotiation, and stakeholder management
