Job description:
Mott MacDonald is seeking a Mechanical Engineer.
Roles & responsibilities:
In this role, you will lead the preparation and analysis of key mechanical options, collaborating with clients and stakeholders to ensure risks are mitigated and project requirements are met. You will be responsible for designing mechanical systems, conducting calculations, and overseeing various project processes to ensure successful delivery.
- Mechanical Options Analysis: Lead the preparation and analysis of key mechanical options for client and stakeholder review, ensuring risks and gaps are mitigated while upholding the Project Basis of Design.
- Design Calculations: Facilitate the sizing of mechanical, hydraulic, power generating, and building services equipment through detailed design calculations.
- Supply Chain Liaison: Collaborate with the supply chain to assess and understand the latest technologies as part of the optioneering process.
- 3D Modeling Collaboration: Work with the design team to develop 3D models and solutions.
- Process Oversight: Oversee outputs for processes including P&IDs, data sheets, HAZID and HAZOP studies, and mechanical input into commissioning plans, including proposed performance tests.
- Health & Safety Excellence: Support the team in achieving excellence in Health & Safety, producing safe designs in accordance with CDM regulations and standards.
- Project Objectives: Identify and promote opportunities to meet project digital, sustainability, innovation, and people objectives.
- Equipment Layout: Prepare equipment layout and civil outline drawings for wastewater and desalination projects.
- Material Specifications: Prepare piping material specifications and valve material specifications as per project requirements.
- Drawing Checks: Check pipe support drawings (above ground and below ground such as thrust blocks).
- GA Drawings: Prepare and check mechanical GA drawings based on purchased details.
- Piping MTO: Prepare initial and final piping MTO (Material to be Ordered).
- Erection BOM: Prepare erection BOM and release for site.
Requirements:
- Educational background: BE or MTech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional qualifications: MIMechE/ MIET or equivalent, or working towards achieving it.
- Design knowledge: Detailed knowledge of the design process, engineering, and engineering design.
- Commercial understanding: Good understanding of project commercial issues and constraints.
- HSE systems: Appreciation of Health, Safety, and Environmental systems and procedures.
