Job description:
Google is conducting an interview for the post of SOC Power Estimation Engineer.
Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-silicon power estimation and analysis using specialized tools at both RTL and Netlist levels.
- Develop and implement methodologies to enhance power estimation processes and incorporate industry best practices.
- Conduct power estimation and “what-if” analyses for various IPs and subsystems, ensuring projections align with targets.
- Review power estimation reports to identify potential areas for power savings, influencing both physical design and microarchitecture aspects to achieve power reductions.
- Collaborate with the Power Modeling team to assess the power consumption impact of different IP or subsystem states, particularly regarding battery life optimization.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field, or relevant practical experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in low-power RTL and physical design optimization techniques.
- Proficiency in scripting languages, such as Python and Perl.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in System-on-Chip (SoC) architecture, including power management and clocking architecture.
- Hands-on experience with RTL-level power estimation and analysis tools.
- Ability to work independently as well as in collaborative team environments.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and investigative skills.
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
