GlobalFoundries is conducting an interview for the post of Manufacturing Operations Engineer.

As an Engineer in Manufacturing Operations for semiconductor processes, you will be responsible for providing engineering support to ensure efficient and productive operations. Your role will include the following key responsibilities, either independently or under direction:

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight and guidance for operational activities to ensure the optimal use of manufacturing processes and equipment, focusing on meeting daily targets such as cycle time, throughput, prototype success, and shipment plans.
  • Support automated assembly tools and processes to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
  • Collaborate with engineering and industrial engineering teams to ensure that accurate assumptions, constraints, and units per hour (UPH) metrics are used in capacity modeling.
  • Drive initiatives for improving manufacturing efficiencies, productivity, and quality.
  • Ensure all tasks are performed safely and comply with Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHS&S) requirements and programs.
  • Collaborate on other projects and assignments as needed to support manufacturing goals.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily engineering activities on shift to meet manufacturing objectives and department key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Oversee and coordinate training programs to develop shift engineers, ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for their respective job functions.
  • Work closely with the equipment team to monitor preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) activities, ensuring appropriate process qualifications are followed post-maintenance.
  • Review daily goals, priorities, and qualification timelines, ensuring prompt resolution of any open issues that arise during the shift.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects aimed at optimizing semiconductor etching processes to enhance process stability and wafer yield.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and create career development plans for shift team members to support their professional growth.

Required qualifications:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field such as Physics, Chemistry, or Material Science.
  • Relevant experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree with 1-2 years of experience, or
    • Master’s degree with 0-1 years of experience in semiconductor etching process engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively address yield-related issues and challenges in the manufacturing process.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to deliver high-quality results within established timelines.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with demonstrated experience leading teams and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead a team in daily operations, ensuring compliance with SOPs and performance standards.
  • Responsible for training team members in technical job functions, such as tool qualification setup, lot hold response, wafer recovery from tools in error state, response to inline SPC (Statistical Process Control), and addressing product defectivity issues.
  • Track team member performance against module-defined KPIs to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
