Job description:
The Processor Architecture Research (PAR) Lab at Intel Labs conducts cutting-edge research into next-generation processor architectures. The lab focuses on innovative designs and approaches that address future challenges in CPU microarchitecture, accelerator subsystems for Generative AI, and co-design strategies across microarchitecture and system software.
Key areas of research:
Extreme CPU Microarchitectures:
Research topics include overcoming front-end bottlenecks, developing machine learning-inspired branch/value predictors and code/data prefetchers, designing advanced cache and heterogeneous memory hierarchies, and hardware-based security mechanisms.
Accelerator-Based Subsystems:
Focused on accelerator designs for Generative AI applications and their efficient integration with CPUs/GPUs, as well as the exploration of novel memory technologies.
Co-Design Strategies:
Emphasizing the co-design of microarchitecture and system software to boost compute/memory efficiency, specifically for data center and cloud services.
Qualifications:
- Technical Expertise (one or more of the following):
- Software Proficiency:
- Strong programming skills in C++, Perl, or Python.
- Experience with cycle-accurate microarchitecture simulators and/or system software development (e.g., compilers, runtimes, or operating systems).
- VLSI and Microarchitecture:
- Expertise in VLSI design and accelerator-based microarchitecture.
- AI and Cloud Workloads:
- Proficiency in characterizing emerging AI and cloud workloads, with a focus on architecture that is driven by workload requirements.
- Software Proficiency:
