Texas Instruments is conducting an interview for the post of Analog Validation Engineer.

About the group and responsibilities:

The Audio Convertors (AC) group develops industry best-in-class solutions for Audio applications in the Consumer, Industrial and Automotive markets. These include cutting edge Audio Amplifiers, ADCs, DACs and CODECs that gets designed into everything from the world’s most popular consumer electronics to high-end professional audio equipment. Several devices, that support advanced DSP algorithms get used in new age technologies such as noise cancellation, voice-controlled applications and speech recognition systems. The Audio Convertor Product Definition, Design, Test, Validation and Applications teams are based in Bangalore and have developing leading audio products over two decades now.

As Validation Engineer you will be working with a team of multi-skilled engineers, responsible for the following

  • Work with the product definition and design team, before silicon availability to thoroughly understand test requirements including device level, system level and compliance specifications.
  • Develop and validate the design and algorithms using pre-silicon FPGA prototypes.
  • Define and own validation plan and schedule with coverage of all the use-cases and corner conditions.
  • Development of test methods and efficient, reusable automation for the setups.
  • Drive the development of scalable validation boards meeting signal and power integrity requirements.
  • Parametric data collection across PVT, using automation to execute a comprehensive validation plan.
  • Drive reviews with extended team for validation boards, test results and debug. Negotiate to relax/tighten datasheet specs to meet best trade-off between performance and yield.
  • Coordinate and support for compliance testing at external test-houses.
  • Work with cross functional teams (Systems, Apps, TE, PE, Quality) to support customer issues debug, root cause analysis and solution identification.

Qualifications required:

  • Proficient in validation of various analog and digital IPs, interface standards and protocols
  • Understanding of related setups and usage of instruments including Audio Generator/Analyzers, Function Generators and High-freq. Oscilloscopes.
  • Excellent automation skills (preferably python, Labview, TestStand)
  • Proficiency and experience in high speed board design and signal integrity analysis tools.
  • Experience with FPGA development to support Pre-Si validation setups will be a plus.
  • Self-driven, motivated, quick learner, focused and committed to solving problems by converging on potential solutions. Constantly pushing for efficiency improvements.
  • Good interpersonal skills to be able to work and collaborate effectively with other team members and stakeholders.

Preferred skills/experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience in validation of High-speed devices.
  • Exposure to test instruments i.e. Audio Generators/Analyzers, High frequency Oscilloscopes, Source meters, Power supplies etc.
  • Automation software and tools i.e. NI Labview, TestStand, Python scripting.
  • Exposure to ATE solution development flow would is a plus
  • Ability to subjectively perceive audio quality in “Golden Ear” tests would be an added advantage
  • Experience with one or more board layout and SI simulation tools viz. Altium, Allegro, Sigrity, Ansys etc.
  • Experience with Xilinx FPGA flow and tool-kit (Vivado)
