Vestas is conducting an interview for the post of Loads Engineer.
Job duties and responsibilities:
As a part of Vestas Power Solutions, the Loads and Control department is responsible for developing future wind turbine controller software and hardware but also loads and control solutions ensuring optimal performance of our products under all conditions for certification. The responsibility spans from strategic development of new turbine technologies to delivering product level feasibility studies ensuring an optimal cost of energy. The department consists of highly skilled and experienced engineers and assumes full accountability of all aspects of the loads and control solution delivered to the wind turbine development projects.
Essential responsibilities:
- Delivering design loads, power curves, and noise assessments
- Perform product level design studies within loads, including blade design iterations, tower iterations, wind turbine aeroelastic stability, etc
- Support the certification process of wind turbines, including performing the load test campaign in the prototype wind turbine
- Development and validation of wind turbine aeroelastic models
- Propel the technical aspects of loads development for a specific product from feasibility state to full validation and certification stage
- Risk management activities, such as failure mode and effect analysis
- Development of code/scripts and improvement of processes to ensure a lean and efficient execution
Qualifications required:
- Bachelor’s / Master’s / PhD’s in Mechanical / Aerospace / Aeronautics / Similar speciallization
- 1-5 years of work experience within wind turbine design industry / Heavy engineering industries
- Experience in programming, at least one of the following: Matlab, Simulink, Python
- Dynamic and aeroelastic modeling experience, for example using wind turbine codes such as FAST, HAWC, FLEX or similar tools
- Previous industrial/academic (at MSc or PhD level) experience in loads analysis, aero-elasticity or multi-body dynamics
- Knowledge of basic wind turbine control strategies
