Job description:
GKN Aerospace is conducting an interview for the post of Associate Research Engineer/Specialist.
GKN Aerospace is looking for an associate research engineer with an interest in growing your career towards research and development in the areas of digital technologies. You will be responsible for technically supporting the conceptualisation, development and implementation of methods and processes to support aerospace technologies. You will be part of the team to shape and develop research and development projects in the TRL1-6 range, using your skills and competencies.
Job duties and responsibilities:
- Develop, execute, implement and check methods, plans, toolsets and approaches that are
appropriate and compliant to achieve digital solutions under technology development
programs - Identify technical problems and apply/integrate solutions as needed with a set based
design approach - Work with cross functional teams to identify risks and work towards resolution
- Generate assigned project deliverables, documents, and reports according to the project
plans - Support and participate in technical reviews, including the creation and preparation of
technical data and presentations as needed and support other engineers - Support idea generation and CI activities
- Take part in regular sprint planning meetings to plan, review and deliver based on agile
philosophy within the program - Perform all activities with minimal supervision and support other engineers within the
program as required
Qualifications and Experience required:
General:
- Must possess requisite level of knowledge of basic gas turbine fundamentals, digital and
manufacturing processes. - Must possess basic knowledge and understanding of research and product development
- Must possess a high level of technical problem solving skills and innovative mind set to
conceptualize ideas and develop them to feasible solutions with an interest to work in
developing technologies
Essential:
- Master in Engineering degree or higher, preferably mechanical, aerospace or related with an inclination towards factory automation and research
- 1-2 years of working knowledge in software application development, testing and knowledge of software quality
- Proficiency in programming languages such as python, C++ and working knowledge in GIT,
Linux and windows platforms - Good knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes and Industry 4.0
- The ability to communicate ideas and thoughts well
- Able to communicate well in both writing and orally
- Demonstrated commitment to learning about digital technologies through your own
initiatives through courses, books, or side projects
