Job description:
Cadence is seeking a Lead Test Engineer with expertise in post-silicon validation of Ethernet systems and a profound understanding of IEEE 802.3 and 802.2 Ethernet standard specifications. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in defining system validation plans, executing tests for silicon board bring-up, validating Ethernet silicon across channels (LR/MR/VR), and collaborating with validation teams/design teams to debug system-level issues. Additionally, the role involves developing software scripts and custom firmware to optimize SerDes IP performance both in our lab and at customer sites. Generating comprehensive test reports, application notes, and technical marketing documents will also be part of the responsibilities.
Requirements:
- MTech/MS/BTech in Electronics/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering.
- 0-3 years of experience.
- Solid grasp of electronics and communication fundamentals.
- Experience in integrating Ethernet system MAC + PHY and post-silicon validation.
- Strong expertise in layer-1 and layer-2 stacks of Ethernet.
- Proven track record in debugging and parametric analysis of high-speed digital/analog systems.
- Proficiency in bring-up and debugging.
- Hands-on experience with complex test equipment setups in laboratory environments.
- Proficiency in post-silicon validation and root cause failure analysis.
- Prior experience in automation script development and optimization using Perl/Python/C.
- Familiarity with modern high-speed lab equipment (Keysight/Tek/Anritsu) such as BERT, Scope, PNA, Spectrum Analyzer, LeCroy/Xena Protocol Analyzer/Exerciser, etc.
- Experience in validating system-level designs based on processors and basic peripherals like I2C, UART, JTAG, etc.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Python/Perl/C scripting languages.
- Highly motivated and eager to learn new skills.
