Airbus is conducting an interview for the post of Health Engineer.

Team description:

The Maintenance Team at Airbus India utilizes primarily System Engineering and Health engineering competencies. This team is responsible for defining the maintenance systems of tomorrow for the aircraft, designing the BITE specifications for the systems, providing the customization mods needed for the aircraft, and developing diagnostic and prognostic solutions to improve the maturity of systems and to provide health monitoring capabilities by applying machine learning algorithms, reliability concepts, an adept understanding of aircraft systems and modeling and simulation capabilities. The team works with both commercial and defense & space ecosystems and is also engaged on Airbus Skywise (the singular access point to data analytics) utilizing Big Data, Java & Python skills to create data-driven models. We are a team strongly invested in R&T initiatives that are dedicated to supporting future aircraft health needs. This team is part of Simulation & Physical Systems, a department that works on providing simulation means for most aircraft systems and industrial needs through the application of systems engineering, MBSE, certification abilities, etc.

Job duties and responsibilities:

Prognostic health Monitoring/Management (PHM) feasibility study of components in a futuristic Landing Gear system. We are looking for a intern who is self-motivated and driven to work on PHM being responsible for:

  • Listing Down the different components in futuristic Landing Gear and forming an architectural block diagram.
  • Preparing Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis FMECA document for selected components.
  • Deep diving into the selected component and their associated faults.
  • Detailed literature study and documentation of papers published in the area of Diagnostic (Fault Detection, Identification and Isolation – FDII) and Prognostic (Remaining Useful Life- RUL) for selected components and their faults.
  • Available sensor feasibility study for PHM. New sensor selection in case available sensors do not support PHM.
  • Literature based modeling of components with Fault injection capability.
  • Risk and Cost benefit analysis with and without PHM for selected components and failures.
  • Documentation of PHM study with final conclusion and suggestion.

Required experience & skills:

  • B.Tech./B.E./M.Tech./M.E. in aerospace or mechanical engineering
  • Business Proficiency in English

Preferred requirements:

  • Proficiency in quickly grasping the technical details of different aircraft systems and associating the technology to solve relevant problem statements.
  • Good communicator so as to represent Airbus India as part of the project
  • Self-motivated individual interested in working on data science concepts for aviation industry
  • Strong team player motivated to collaborate and find synergies
  • Excellent analytical skills and proven ability to solve problems creatively.
