Eaton is hiring Electronics Hardware Design Engineers.

This position is part of Product engineering team developing Power Conversion solutions for electrical and hybrid applications for on- and off-road vehicles. As a member of the engineering team, you will lead power electronics architecture/design of Inverter (HV/LV DC-AC) and HV/LV DCDC converters. In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for working with their engineering manager and cross functional teams to deliver on project requirements. Incumbent will also be responsible for end-to-end product development from understanding customer requirements to verification and validation (V&V). Incumbent will work closely with engineers located in various locations in the U.S., Europe and Asia and will have functional reporting to the Global engineering leaders. ”

  • Eaton India Innovation Center (EIIC) has an opening for a Associate Engineer – Electronics Hardware Design in 48V Power Conversion. This position will be based in Pune, India.
  • The individual will be responsible for developing high power density product designs involving electrical / power electronics / hardware design and interface designs from End-to-end.
  • Perform design, simulation and implementation of different types of power electronic converters: Inverters, DCDC converters, On-board charger. Optimization studies of different converter topologies with respect to losses, device sizing and selection.
  • Design of analog and digital electronics including micro-processors/controllers, DSP’s, gate drivers, sensor interfaces and SMPS for power conversion and protection. Designing, developing and testing power electronics platforms and systems for power distribution applications in hybrid and electric vehicles
  • Should be able to work on digital Communication protocols like CAN, RS232, SPI, I2C etc. Should handle hardware system design including end to end product development involving complex analog & digital circuit design with 16/32 /64 bit microcontrollers based designs, development, launch support. Interface with Business Unit (BU) engineers to drive strong business cases for new commercial applications
  • Ability to Analyze and predict design performance using Simulation tools.

Qualifications and experience required:

Bachelors / Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics with industry experience of over 0-1 years and proven track record in engineering research / analysis / product design.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge on hardware design for analog & digital circuit design with 16/32 /64 bit microcontroller based designs, development, verification & validation, qualification & certification testing, launch support.
  • Knowledge on Digital Communication protocols like CAN, LIN, RS232, SPI, I2C etc.
  • Experience in following tools – MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice/ LT Spice/ Simetrix, PSIM/SABER
  • Preferred / Additional specialized knowledge
  • Knowledge on pulsed power, capacitor chargers, electromagnetics, microelectronics, and thermal design.
  • Knowledge on different Power Topologies
  • Good communication and presentation skills – both verbal and written are necessary with an ability to make necessary status reports.
  • Learning Agility – Quick to learn, agility to understand different engineering disciplines.
  • Efficient – Uses appropriate tools, analytics and model-based designs based on situation;
  • Understands risks and possesses ability to derive actions
  • Drive for results – can be counted on to exceed goals successfully
