Eaton’s Center for Sustainability is seeking highly motivated individuals passionate about environmental accounting and sustainability.

Job duties and responsibilities:

As an Associate Engineer, you will support Product Environment Profiles (PEP) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) through life cycle assessments (LCA) and Design for Environment initiatives for Eaton’s extensive range of electrical products. Your contributions will assist businesses in meeting customer demands related to Life Cycle Assessment, navigating regulatory landscapes, and crafting sustainability value propositions to seize additional business opportunities.

  1. Conduct detailed Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies in accordance with ISO 14040 & 14044 standards to assess the environmental impacts of Eaton electrical products, followed by third-party verification to publish type-III Environmental Product Declarations (EPD).
  2. Aid in the development of modular LCAs and the establishment of a library containing Eaton standard components and processes.
  3. Assist product engineering teams in calculating greenhouse gas emissions associated with the life cycle of electrical products.
  4. Support the evaluation of compliance with applicable eco-design regulations, such as the EU-ErP Directive.
  5. Interpret and communicate customer requirements effectively to other Eaton teams.
  6. Provide regular reports on development and support activities.
  7. Contribute to Design-For-Environment initiatives for new product development projects.
  8. Drive continuous process improvements to enhance productivity and efficiency.

Qualifications required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or Chemical / Mechanical / Electronics / Electrical Engineering.
  • 0-3 years’ experience in the areas of Sustainability domain, Product or technology development for Industrial, Electrical/Electronic, or Chemical products or processes.

Skills required:

  1. Solid fundamental engineering knowledge.
  2. Basic understanding of eco-design regulations requirements.
  3. Familiarity with Life Cycle Assessment standards (ISO 14040/44/25).
  4. Experience conducting LCAs according to specific rules such as ISO14040/44/25. Familiarity with conducting LCAs according to PEP-EcoPassport Product Category Rules/Product Specific Rules is advantageous.
    • Proficient in LCA modeling using software like EIME (preferably), SimaPro, Sphera/GaBi, OpenLCA, or similar.
    • Understanding of goal & scope definition and Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) data requirements.
    • Ability to analyze LCA results for hotspots and support interpretation.
    • Proficient in communicating LCA impacts to internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Basic understanding of REACH, RoHS, Prop65, and other applicable regulations and their impact on products and technology is beneficial.
  6. Comfortable handling data and using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  7. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey technical concepts effectively.
  8. Demonstrates good judgment, time management, and decision-making skills.
