Job description:
Collins Aerospace is hiring for the post of Mechanical System Model Engineer.
Job duties and responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with global stakeholders and Project leads to gather requirements, plan, and develop plant and controller models for various aircraft systems such as Landing systems, Slat and Flap actuation systems, Electromechanical actuators, Hydraulic, and Pneumatic systems.
- Conduct performance analysis and system robustness studies using system models, providing design inputs for product development.
- Prepare technical and business proposals for advanced methods development, innovation, and paper publication.
- Execute projects and ensure project deliverables are met with 100% On-Time Delivery (OTD) and meet quality standards.
- Participate in internal Communities of Practice (CoP) and external professional bodies.
- Support the creation of Standard Work, Lessons Learned documents, and Checklists.
Domain Knowledge & Skills:
- Proficient in building physics-based plant and controls models for mechanical systems such as actuation systems, landing gear, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Skilled in model validation and correlation of system models.
- 1-3 years of experience in Modeling and Simulation tools like MATLAB Simulink, Simscape, or similar simulation environments.
- Proficient in MATLAB or Python-based scripting.
- Hands-on experience in FMU-based model exchange is advantageous.
- Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze, monitor, and improve the efficiency and stability of systems.
- Excellent communication skills.
Qualifications required:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Control Systems.
