About the program and duties:

The Emerging Systems Lab/Telecom Systems Research (ESL/TSR) within Intel Labs is a pioneering research group dedicated to driving technology advancements and business impacts. Collaborating closely with Intel product groups, industry partners, consortiums, and academia, our group focuses on researching and prototyping advanced network and edge workloads, such as 5G Private Networks and 5G telecom infrastructure. We aim to transition today’s networking infrastructure onto high-volume Intel Architecture (IA) based platforms by leveraging software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions (NFs) operating in virtualized or containerized orchestrated Cloud Native environments on IA platforms.

Intel is currently seeking a highly motivated software engineer and developer to join our research team. In this role, you will collaborate with our team to investigate, apply, and develop state-of-the-art AI/ML optimizations in areas such as energy efficiency of networks and optimal resource allocation to meet user’s service level agreements.

Essential responsibilities:

Analyze, design, and prototype aspects of research, workloads, and/or system features.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to evaluate and implement advanced networking system designs and workloads.

Qualifications required:

Proficiency in C/C++, Python, Linux, and system software knowledge.
Proficiency in AI/ML tools and technology.
Familiarity with network architecture and protocols.
Knowledge of network or 5G cellular network architecture is a plus.
Ability to analyze resource utilization issues in systems and propose enhancements to improve performance (e.g., energy, throughput, etc.) of scalable and distributed systems.
Ability to work in ambiguous technical environments.
